GD Hilux Media Release
The Hilux legacy is legendary. Since its introduction in 1969, the model has etched an enviable reputation for itself across the globe, where its durability, strength and outright quality, has entrenched itself in the hearts of its owners.
In Fiji, the venerable Hilux nameplate is not only regarded as a mode of transport, but as a trusted member of the family. The demand continues to grow and the Hilux remains to retain the highest resale value of Pick-Ups in Fiji.
Asco Motors introduces the Turbo Diesel Engine Toyota Hilux in Fiji which is built upon the rock solid reputation of its predecessors and is tougher and more rugged than ever before. The new diesel engine features a combination of excellent performance and outstanding fuel efficiency.
The diesel engines are available in a 2.4 litre unit with 160hp and the 2.8 litre with an impressive 177hp. These engines also happens to be the very first diesel engine which uses Thermo Swing Wall Insulation Technology which makes the 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV engine one of the most thermally efficient in existence, with a maximum thermal efficiency of 44 percent.
Besides the technical improvement, the diesel engine also eliminates almost 99 percent of emissions of nitrogen oxide which happens to be one of the main causes of air pollution.
Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Craig Sims commented that, “There is a huge demand for Toyota Hilux in Fiji. Asco Motors presold all units from the first shipment the majority from the second batch we are to receive mid this month. There are only five unsold units which will be available at our Suva Showroom. We are conducting a roadshow on Saturday at the Suva New Vehicle Sales car park, where you will have an opportunity to test drive the demonstration vehicles and experience the extra power and comfort the range has to offer.”
